The Sky’s the Limit for Master of Business Accounting Graduate

When former professional bobsleigh athlete Antje Bolz decided to expand her career with a Master of Business Accounting qualification, she turned to Education Centre Australia and Victoria University Sydney.

Today, just three weeks after her graduation, Antje has started a new job in the payroll department of The Prince of Wales Private Hospital in Randwick.

Initially from Germany, Antje came to Australia four years ago with the intention of broadening her English language skills and exploring new opportunities. After assessing her options, Antje decided to study at the Victoria University Sydney campus.

Reflecting on her experiences studying and working in Australia, Antje is overwhelmingly positive; “I had worked in accounting for 10 years before I came to Australia, and I was looking to expand my horizons. I wanted to brush up on my English language skills and gain experience working in a different country” she said.

“Returning to study after a decade in the workforce was a big step for me. The student liaison officers at ECA were amazing. I felt very comfortable to ask questions and they took the time to explain things to me if I was unsure of processes. The lecturers were also great. My Ethics and Tax Law lecturers were so inspiring and supported their students really well. I will always look back on those classes positively” she added.

For Antje, the decision to work and study in Australia was an easy one. “I was really drawn to the lifestyle and climate of Australia, and I enjoy living here. When I arrived in Australia I wanted to learn surfing, which I haven’t done yet, but will do in the future. Also, I have made such amazing friends through my studies. They are still my friends now, and probably will be for life”.

Looking to the future, Antje says that she looks forward to settling into her new role at the Prince of Wales Private Hospital. “The whole experience has been a huge success for me. Less than one month after graduating I have been able to secure a job where my skills and work ethic are really valued. I can see lots of opportunities here and I’m thrilled to have found meaningful employment so quickly” she said.
