Caio furthers his career with a Master of Business Accounting

When Caio Barbosa came to Australia two years ago, he wanted to refine his skills and become an accountant.

After completing his Master of Business Accounting qualification at Victoria University’s Sydney Campus (VU Sydney), Caio has achieved his goal and is now working towards his dream job as a Chief Financial Officer in an accounting firm.

Originally from Brazil, Caio chose to study in Australia because of the friendly people and warm climate. “I did a lot of research online before I came here, so I knew what to expect, and what I wanted to achieve” said Caio. “I already had accounting experience in Brazil, and I wanted to build on that by learning about accounting in Australia” he added.

Caio’s experience with VU Sydney is positive, and he is impressed by the level of support that is offered. “Aside from the assistance we got in class, they also provided tutors to help students if they had any questions or doubts. Towards the end of my course, I actually became a tutor in Account Systems and Processes, as well as Financial Advice, which was a great experience” he said.

ECA also helped Caio to settle into life in Australia. “Before the course started, the team at ECA gave us a great introduction to life Australia, and talked to us about what we can expect, and what we can do. This gave us all a better idea of Australian culture, and we knew that if we needed anything we would always have someone here to support us”.

Caio has much praise for VU Sydney’s student support staff. “When I first arrived, I went to see Ian many times. He gave me support around the language and helped me with the things I didn’t understand about Australia. He even showed me how to put in an ABN application” said Caio.

Looking to the future, Caio wants to build his career in accounting and take on a CFO role. “I’ve recommended ECA and Victoria University Sydney to other international students, including my friends at home. Their process worked really well for me and I already have an accounting job, just a few months after graduating.
