Making VU a New School of Thought

Making VU "a new school of thought" is the action plan for achieving a distinctive and sustainable future for VU. It is made up of a Parent Project, which guides the overall planning and implementation of Making VU, and five Commitment Projects dedicated to implementing the five commitments:

Commitment One: Collaboration
- Industry and Community Clusters (lead by SDVC Education Programs Professor John McCallum and PVC Industry and Community Professor Peter Creamer)

VU will focus on 12 industry and community clusters in which VU has strong education and research capabilities and align them more effectively with future needs, with input from roundtables chaired by prominent industry and community leaders.

Commitment Two: Career
- Learning in the Workplace and Community (lead by PVC Teaching and Learning Belinda McLennan)

VU will make at least 25% learning in the workplace and community a universal feature of VU courses.

Commitment Three: Choices
- Customised Learning Experiences (lead by PVC Students Stephen Weller)

VU will provide students with the ability to customise their learning experience around course choice and learning support to best meet their current needs and future demands.

Commitment Four: Connected
- Repositioning Vocational Education (Lead by PVC Vocational Education Anne T Jones)

VU will reshape VU vocational and workplace education for the greater benefit of students and for connecting enterprises with the workforce development services they require to upskill and reskill their existing workers.

Commitment Five: Community
- Initiatives for the West (Lead by DVC Research and Region Linda Rosenman)

VU will resource three initiatives for a better life in Melbourne's western suburbs and to share this knowledge with other communities in Australia or overseas that may face similar challenges.
